Replacement for M-Audio Lightbridge

Hi All,

I have a Lightbridge... and along with it comes a love/hate relationship.

I love it because it interfaces my Rosettas to my Macbook (PT 9)
I hate it because it is unstable and won't lock to anything higher than 48k (I clock off of a Big Ben and have tried ADAT/WC/SPDIF Sync - with no luck)

I like the concept of this device -
Small and portable
Does it's job without the extra crap involved (I already have nice A/D/A's and Pres)
Has a Cue and TRS Out for the times when I just need to edit quickly without my entire setup

My question for my fellow slutz - is there anything else out there that you would recommend??

Also, has anyone had any luck syncing this little guy to 88.2k or 96k? (I know it works internal, but I want to sync of my master)

Thank you!!

Isn't the standard max of ADAT protocol in general 48k? SMUX will get you higher but by cutting your I/O in half. The lightbridge may just have been designed to maximize I/O over higher clock rates. What does the manual say about it?

Since you already have the Rosettas and seem to be ok with a Core 2 Duo CPU, perhaps you could sell both the lightbridge and the macbook and replace them with a 17" Macbook Pro and a Symphony Mobile card. If money or size are a concern then maybe look for an older 15" C2D Macbook Pro (the ones with the express card slot).
