Can someone tell me a little bit about these seems like some of the named producers still use these? If I wanted to use this with a windows machine what card would I need to get to use this and Cubase?
Or am I better off with a fireface? Is conversion still good on these AD8000's?

I believe you can run the AD8000 in Windows or Mac with an add-on Firewire 400 or ADAT card, but both were limited production and so quite hard to find. The interface was tops in its day (late 90s) - known for being warm and musical, if not as detailed as the newest generation of convertors. Your decision may come down to what sound you prefer, plus availability of peripherals, service and support for the AD8000 which Apogee moved to legacy status a few years ago.
