Thread Starter | metric halo ULN-2 Pre Amps vs. FMR Audio RNP?
Ok I was thinking about getting the FMR Audio RNP to replace my Studio Projects VTB-1. However, I want to replace my Edirol UA-25 with a FW unit. I was thinking maybe the Metric Halo ULN-2 would kill two birds with one stone. I have read that the Pre-Amps in the Metric Halo unit has great Pre-Amps. Is this true? Are they better than the FMR Audio unit?

The ULN-2 has very clean preamps and the DI input sounds good. Hard to beat for what you pay, if you also need an interface with solid drivers. Metric Halo's support is excellent and responsive. Also interested in the ULN-2/RNP comparison. cheers, bernd |

The Metric Halo ULN-2 pre-amps are anything but Low End - wrong Forum mate!

I've got both. The ULN-2 preamps are cleaner with higher gain than the RNP. The RNP is nice and sounds great, but I think the preamps on the ULN are nicer. This was especially noticeable using a ribbon mic. Not as much difference with condensors but still apparent to my ears. Add in the very nice converter and firewire interface in the Metric Halo unit and it's a great deal. |
