| Basic Home Recording Set-Up
Hello,
I'm a relative recording noob but I'm looking to put together a decent home studio. It will be used for recording, sometimes recording practices to assist with evaluating ourselves, as well as basic tracks to toss out to friends and what not. The budget is about $1k.
-I'm looking at using Reaper, but would be open to other options. Again, budget is important so Reaper seems to give a lot of bang for the buck.
-Input: The Tascam US-1641 looks solid, but I've been looking into the Tascam M164FX as well. Thoughts? I've found little on this budget mixer.
-Microphones: This is an aspect I'm not to sure in. Obviously a pair of SM57's is a good start, but as far as mic'ing a drum set... :/
-Monitor: Headphones or speaker monitors? I figure with the budget allowed, headphones may be a bit cheaper.
I'm sorry I'm so unknowledgeable! But I figure if anyone can help, it's the gearslutz community. I'm not looking to open a studio, just lay down some decent sounding stuff with friends and such... Thoughts?
