Help with Analog Summing...

Hi there,
I've just got one Soundtrace Solo 24 analog mixer(not Logic) for 300$ in very good condition(only used three time, and keep it for 10 year in box), and i've done the mod with some NE5532/Burr Brown op-amps on the input/output and bus blah blah blah for 200$...now the console sound clean and sweets! Good pre, nice and warm EQ...
I am on Mac OSX with Logic Pro 7.1.1 run with a Tascam FW1884, Focusrite Saffire, i have do the mix In-The-Box for few year...the more i've done, the more i feel less..(But the Logic summing is still better then Pro Tools i think, i come across from Proooo Tooools)..
My problem is, i would like to start some analog summing test with my Soundtracs Solo to mix some stem output from Logic, but i can't manage to make the damn Saffire work with FW1884 cause the poor driver of Saffire...I've try to spoke to the engineer in Focusrite, and i have try all the way i can, no luck...I like the sound of the saffire, but i really can't wait the new driver come out to try out-of -the-box experience..So i planing to get a new interface to improve the AD/DA quality to mix with the console..
I am looking at RME Fireface, Motu Traveler, 828 MKII, Yamaha i88x. I know the Fireface standing top of the list, but it's a bit out of budget for the moment. The Yamaha I88X could do better but i am worry about the MLan driver, it is the same problem will happen like what i have with the FW1884 with saffire ? They both can't get sync and will lost firewire signal...Cause the Saffire don't have word clock i/o, so i only consider interface with word clock this time...
So any one have experience with I88X with other audio interface work together in yours system??? I would like to used i88x with FW1884, and i also planing to buy a Behringer ADA 8000 to add extra i/o for the I88X to get 24 analog output to do analog summing...
Any one help please??

How many channels of DA do you need? I'm sure you know this but you can get this thing up and running to test the sound of console using just the i/o of the Tascam.

Can't help you with the FW thing, but something to consider is that your faders on the Tascam may not be that useful anymore, since you're effectively using the DAW as a playback engine. Perhaps a Fieface 800 would be a tighter and more efficient interface for your needs, which can go up to 26 outputs.

BTW I'm doing the same thing with an Onyx and I've never been happier...good luck

Krs,
I have thinking getting an Onyx 1640 and fireface before, but after i got this soundtracs solo, i don't think i will buy the mackie anymore, but i think the preamp in onyx is better, but it can't record with EQ from firewire to host make me stop..i like the EQ on those in SOLO board specially i upgrade and modifier the console..
I have try the test with my Fw1884, out put 8 stereo stem to the SOLO mixer, wow, the sound is much better than stereo output from logic/fw1884 trough my event asp8 speaker...i am sure the analog summing is my way to go...i wish i can have more budget to get the fireface or other high-end AD/DA converter...
Now the budget on me only able to get i88x or motu 828mkii, i hope these thing will work...

I wasn't recommending you to go Onyx (as you already have a console).

I was only pointing out that rather than daisy chaining FW devices together to get stuff working, why not get one box that has the the number of outputs you need?
