Milk crate resonance?

My Alesis Monitor Two speakers are up on milk crates. How much of a
sound difference would there be if I switched to sand-filled stands or
concrete blocks? I've read posts that say light stands have resonance
problems, and other posts that say it's not a big deal. Who has used
both?
No lactose intolerant jokes...

you'd be better of with some cinder blocks...the're really cheap at hardware stores, like a buck or so a piece.
