FW Audio Interface Help

I'm looking to upgrade my Edirol UA-25 with a Firewire Interface. I was wonder which one would be a major improvement over my Edirol when it comes to analog / digital converters?

An Apogee Rosetta with the X-Firewire card would be an upgrade thumbsup

On the cheap, I like my Firepod, sounds pretty nice! The Firebox is going for $300 these days.

I know people like the Yamaha i88x and of course the RME Fireface.

My personal belief is hardware normally makes for a better upgrade and also investment. What is your budget and what sound are you trying to achieve? You might want to look at some pres, channel strips, or even something like the Focusrite ISA428 with the optional A/D card.

All depends on your budget, I have never used the Edirol though so I'm not sure about the quality of the A/D. I would suspect, however, it is around the same quality as much of the Prosumer stuff that is out today. So, might make more sense to look into some hardware that will hold its value.

I'd say up to $700 or so. Not ready to spend $1500 on a Apogee or the RME. The option is to get a really nice AD/DA converter and run that into the Digital Ins on my UA-25.
