A band i've been working with over the past few months. The mixes aren't perfect but they are probably some of the more interesting ones i've been doing.
Also there is a version which was played on BBC 6Music, the first production i've done from top to bottom which got radio play. Interesting seeing how it gets processed.
Here's a link to my new band, 2 songs off an upcoming EP. Recorded at home, in the rehearsal room, Midas Venice320 mic pres into RME Fireface UFX into Cubase 5. Mic locker includes A Pair of AKG C414 xl2, AT4050, MD421's, e906, RE20, and various apex and sure Beta Mics. Outboard includes the FMR lineup (RNC, RNLA, PBC6) and a Kush Audio Fatso. Monitoring on Dynaudio BM5mk2s.
Mixed at home, mastered by my friend Andre Sousa at Minus3Audio.
Hey Gramps, this song gives me hope for the future of the music business.
Not Kidding.
I hope A&R people pull their heads out of their asses and seek you out!
Either that or I hope you discover TUNECORE.

I won't use pitch correcting software. I use "coaching" maybe you've heard of it. It keeps working even when you don't have it on.

VST effects
Use whatever comes with Sonar X1 producer
only paid VST used in this track was IK Multimedia Black 76 on drums for those squashy sound.
I tried to utilize whatever come with the DAW to maintain the low cost of this mix as a practice.
the mix is kinda squashy for most people taste but I really liked it and the result might not be as awesome as most you guys done but I quite like it :D.
it's a song from one of my favorite band Blackfield - My Gift of Silence.(as a low cost mixing and recording practice)

That was a nice tune. Before I criticise I'll just say I have very little experience and I'm not a pro or anything, but I felt listening on my system that the bass guitar was really loud and powerful compared to the rest, but otherwise it was nice! That was mostly for the first track btw.
