Critique encouraged
Very good guitar sound and player!

Hey all,
I recorded this CD on pretty low end gear within the last few months.

The link is bandcamp; It's free to stream.

Gear was laptop and presonus firestudio mobile.

All vox were reslo ribbon and ward beck preamp.
All other backing (excepting midi drums and DI bass) were recorded with an sm81 into the firestudio.

All done at home in a bedroom.
Monitored on headphones until the final mixes on wharfdale dovedales, then finally mackie 624s.

Nice tune, I guess you'll make a version with drums?

Well, I've been trough all the thread and I can say without hesitation that this is the best thread in all GS, where the gear gets used!!!

Hey Gramps, this song gives me hope for the future of the music business.

Not Kidding.

I hope A&R people pull their heads out of their asses and seek you out!

Either that or I hope you discover TUNECORE.
nod.

I won't use pitch correcting software. I use "coaching" maybe you've heard of it. It keeps working even when you don't have it on.

Been doing this a few years, but this is my first tune posted here. It's a commercial you'll likely never hear, with a 1910-ish sound.

Piano- a VST (4Front)
Voice- Studio Projects B1/FMR RNP/RME Multiface I
Clarinet- B1 and MD421 MkII (you need two mics)/RNP/Multiface

All effects are ITB, mostly UAD.

The MD421 and Multiface were both purchased on Gearslutz Classifieds- what a great resource!

Really low end recording and mix
everything ITB and all were recorded in my stinky merely treated 6'x'6x9' home studio

DAW
Sonar X1d
VSTi
Absynth 5
SS 2.0
Ivory Piano

Instruments:
Warmoth Strat, Gibson Les Paul
Line 6 variax bass
M-audio Axiom 49

Audio Interface:
TC Desktop Konnekt 6
Pre:
M-Audio DMP 3
Mics:
MXR V6, AKG 414B

VST effects
Use whatever comes with Sonar X1 producer
only paid VST used in this track was IK Multimedia Black 76 on drums for those squashy sound.
I tried to utilize whatever come with the DAW to maintain the low cost of this mix as a practice.

the mix is kinda squashy for most people taste but I really liked it and the result might not be as awesome as most you guys done but I quite like it :D.

it's a song from one of my favorite band Blackfield - My Gift of Silence.(as a low cost mixing and recording practice)

That was a nice tune. Before I criticise I'll just say I have very little experience and I'm not a pro or anything, but I felt listening on my system that the bass guitar was really loud and powerful compared to the rest, but otherwise it was nice! That was mostly for the first track btw.
