Low Budget Rack Setup

Hi, I've just recently become interested in investing in a rack setup, but I do know know what would be good for me. I know I need a case, a preamp, poweramp, power conditioner, and maybe an effects processor.

In the past few days I have mainly been looking at the ENGL E530 preamp, Marshall JMP-1 preamp, ADA MP-1 preamp, Mesa 20/20 poweramp, Peavey Classic 50 poweramp, and TC electronics GMajor effects processor.

There is probably much more to learn, and all help is appriciated.

I play shred, hard rock, metal and blues and have about $1000 bucks to spend on a full rack setup.

What would you reccomend? Any suggestions would be great!

well not too many guitar players that i deal with use a rack setup anymore....
so theyre probably be quite a few good items used on the bay or other pawn/hok..shops...
$1000...hmmm
what are you playing threw now?

Yeah, if I do get a rack setup, most of the stuff will definately come from ebay.

Right now I play trough a crappy Peavey Bandit that I've had for ages, and its time to upgrade.

well.....alotta people love the bandit...it's got a very solid rep...
so don't sell it...they'll pay you nothing for it at a shop...
and it's NEVER going to break....

ok have you tried a half stack....like an old marshall?
i think quite a few here would point you to a regular amp with a distortion pedal instead of the rack...
as that's the current trend in guitars

but the rack unit is interesting too and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...

there's some older ibanez racks that stomp hard...
hhere are you getting your distortion now...just the bandit?

power tube distortion is sort of the holy grail in rock amps
and its usually heavally dependant on this giant transformer in the head...
look...before you buy something on eBay go to a local shop and try a half stack....
and then there's the speakers...gonna make a huge differance
