Cheap re-amp box

I'm helping this band record some tracks for a demo they are doing. The problem is their guitar recordings are awful. So I want to be able to take the DI signal and take that home with me so I can reamp through one of my tube amps and actually mic it up. What is the cheapest way to do this without losing too much detail?

Any sure fire box that is working for you guys?

I use the Little Labs Red Eye (around $200) and I've been really happy with it.

Depends on what you consider cheap?
$50.00?
$100.00
$200.00+
How are you going to do the DI track? DI Pre? DI box/Mic pre?
This will have a huge influence on how well the Reamping works/sounds.

you can get a radial proRMP for $99 new, or even less used. It's bare bones, but still very good.

get a passive DI box and plug it in backwards.

I have some Behringer thing which is covered in tape so I can't tell you the model name. (But they only do 2 passive DIs and it's the better one) I took the trannie out and replaced it with a Crimson Audio transformer, which in my opinion, for rock music, beats the Jensen. You might like a Jensen though - which is what Radial use.

The Behringer shouldn't cost you more than about $40.

Are you recording them or are these tracks that they have already recorded and brought to you? I'm just wondering if they did it on there own if they captured a good dry signal. I have been given tracks that the guitar was not in tune when it was recorded.

It will be mostly tracks they have done but I will re-record some parts I'm sure. I mostly want to run the bass through my stuff and possibly add some amp sim stuff underneath the original guitars.

$150 tops. Would prefer cheaper if possible. Used ok.
