iKEY Audio M505 Monitors

Are these monitors any good? Im looking for some monitors in this price range to replace some M-Audio monitors im currently using.
Ive heard that theyre basically KRK rokit 5's, just rebadged.

Can anyone give me any insight on this? Would they be a good buy for a low end home setup or should I save up and get the KRKs? I mean if theyre just like the KRKs ill just get them, im all for saving a few bucks.

I think they are from the same factory as the KRK's. The cabinets, components, all seem the same. If they are same, why not? I have the RP-6 and I love them. Give em a try if they are cheaper.

Just wanted to let you know the iKey speakers are not re-badged KRK's - the iKey are made by the same company that makes Gemini speakers which are a really cheap line of PA speakers...IMHO save up for the KRK's

i have the sub.

pretty decent construction-wise. does the job of spitting out the low freqs.

bad: it has a hum going on even when i mute the source. :(

better construction than the resolv samson sub and sound was about the same.
subs u cant judge too much as u wont listen clrearly to those low freq.
but still. the hum dfegad minor and unotible when u play music but noticible when u press stop.
but for the low price and sturdiness its cool.

as for main monitors, i dunnno.
i have 6' older genelecs. so iam biased.

tough cause the stuff i spent the most its the stuff im very happy with.
genelecs
virus ti
mac pro
slave pc

except with the euphonix mc mix... thats expensive and was not happy.
still selling it.

in short... spend some more dough on speakers.
id get the adams or focal or older event series.. the big ones.

This is KRK6000 and 7000, passive monitors, developed by Keth R. Klawitter. They then made famous KRK. But company is bankrupt in 2001 and name was purchased by Stanton Magnetics and now Stanton sale under this brand pre-made OEM Chinese speakers, but people, who know nothing about bankruptcy, continue to believe that they are buying genuine branded products. dfegad

Sorry I forgot about this thread! I never picked them up. I decided to save up and get better (but even then ended up blowing what I saved on other gear, lol) but a friend of mine picked them up and his exact words were "if real KRKs sound like this I dont know what all the hype is about, they sound just like M-Audio AV40s".
The AV40s is what he previously had.
I suppose I will be picking up some Mackie MR5s or just some M-Audio Bx5a's. Besides, I'm just using them for small time home studio work anyway.

Anybody else got any useful info??
