Unhappy ada8000 serious 50 Hz hum ...

hi,
Got a 2nd hand ADA8000 (bad idea to have it 2nd hand you may say)

I got serious 50hz hum on it ... changed my IEC plug power it from other place in the room (to prevent earth loops).

even with the gain at mini I get -57 dbfs of noise on channel 6 (16 on the RME mixer) !!! note that the other channel are not even also ...

Any tricks to get rid of that, appart from door step ?

Cheers
Gilles

I have seen this with those units... Does it go away after the unit has warmed up? (about 20 minutes or so)

the channel 6 is humming even with gain at mini, with the same amount of hum all the way to full gain.
channel 1, 5, 8 join the party at 3/4 gain

What is a UPS ? I 'm running it on a wall plug earthed ... I've already tried to plug it different places in my house (with differrent earth sources), didn't change anything.

uninterrupted power supply. it conditions the power and regulates voltage and is a backup.

like a ford, they write the problem on the front

sorry, but that *could* be the problem.
These units are well known for being a great bang for the buck deal, but never have a I heard of one being described as quiet.
I think you might want to look into external pres/power conditioner/x hum.

I had one of those units for a couple years and it did the same thing...

I never could figure it out... it just got worse

but for me it started on one channel and leaked its way into all the channels eventually.

I still have it sitting on a shelf, if anybody has an answer about what it is...

feel free to chime in!

thanks for the inputs ... but I won't buy a power thing that cost 2k to make work a $100 converter. All my other gears are working without any hum.
