Zoom R16 question and clip

Just messing around with my new Zoom R16. I am wondering about the quality of the built in mastering effects and if they are as good as my Ozone 4 program. Just did this little clip using the built in zoom effects. I need to do some experimenting with this and with ozone. This is the mastering multiband compressor.

Wow that sounds surprisingly awesome. Didn't know something like the Zoom R16 could be so good! I don't see a problem with using the built in zoom effects though if I had the option to go to Ozone I would. What are the controls like on the Zoom? I would think Ozone would be much more flexible and have more features, but I haven't used the Zoom.

I have a feeling the Zoom compressor works just as good as the Ozone one, but for me what it would come down to features and ease of use, and I have a particular affinity for Izotope products so I'd lean towards that.

^^^

Even to my untrained ear and through crappy work PC sound that's pretty sweet, great playing too! Really looking forward to using this product over the coming weeks/months!

Yeah, I think Ozone is far easier to work with. What bothers me about Ozone is that there are tons of presets, so how can mastering really mean anthing if there are so many presets? if you can pick between two hundred presets, what should you e looking to do? Can there be any right way to master if just about any settings can be used to get just about any sound?

On this clip, I was using my beat up old alvarez guitar. Pre was a Mackie vlz3 402 mixer with the XDR2 preamps. mic was a cheap Behringer c-2 sdc, and the bass was direct to the vlz3 using the mackie eq. Drums are the Alesis SR18 machine.

Thanks for the clip - sounds good! I´m looking for a preamp to feed my R16 and your recording gives a good impression how well the the mackie vlz3 works.

I love this little 402. Half the size of the 802. I only needed the two preamps and they are very nice I think, right at the same level as the onyx boards, almost. This 402 is a perfect little companion for the R16.

Repost the Audio?

Hi- just looking for some R16 audio samples- I found this one, but the link is down. Any chance you could repost, or PM me? I too use Ozone on the computer and this looks intriguing. Thanks!

I love the r16 but had a question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been recording drums on the r16 and them putting them on cubase and mixing from there. How do I do it through the interface? Evertime i try I get 5 tracks of the exact same audio. I want to have one track as the snare, one as kick...etc. When I record on r16 and put on cubase it keeps them seperate but when I use as interface all tracks are identical. Any sugestions?

Hello Im a newbie and I really like my R16, I used to have tascam dp01 but due to its limited specs and tight budget I got the R16. I recently recorded a music and use the preset mastering. I would like to share my recording.

I use Focusrite Voicemaster for preamp and a Behringer B1 mic. No DAW
editing done, all was punching in.
