Thread Starter | Joe Meek VC3Q - 3Q?
How much difference between the older VC3Q and the newer 3Q? Reviewers seem to think the newer is a big improvement, but maybe not what I'm looking for... I'm looking for low budget and used probably. Looking for a character pre/comp. Already have nicer pres (both clean and colored) and a few comps as well but have a jones for 1 more channel. Character being the operative word here - not looking for hi fidelity, but something great for room mics or special color/grit on guitars or bass??? |

I do not own either of these personally, but from what most people have told me, the older Ted Fletcher designed VC3Qs are much better. They have tons more headroom and the compression isnt quite as delicate. The EQs are apparently much more colorful as well. Not sure if that means much to you but that's just what i've heard.
