My point was and is simply that Monster et al are grossly over-priced considering that (in my opinion - again, let me repeat that - in my opinion) you get the same performance from a well-shielded twisted pair (i.e. bal / dif) by the likes of Belden et al.

Please do not think that I am 'dissing' your cable selection. I'm simply saying that the esoterics are over-priced, and that putting your money into quality transduecrs (i.e. microphones) or other much-needed gear makes far more sense to me than spending one's money on esoteric cables.
Man I never even read your post before my post. I was just asking a question about California Cable...I had no idea they were esoteric...it's just that the music shop I went to only had those cables!

At this point I probably need one good mic cable and one good quarter inch.
Mogami and Canare are probably the best-selling brands in North-America. You've got economy cables that are good to like Radial, BRTB, Redco, etc. A lot of those brands actually have their cable made by mills in the US and Canada which is cool.

Star Quad: Distance runs and any noisy situation including light dimmers, AC, RF, etc.
Mogami: Good studio mic cable, not as flexible as the Canare. Something that could be a bit more static.

XLR: Neutrik is the best with nickel being their standard. Try to keep the same metal on metal (gold on gold).

Audio test of 10m length low cost microphone cable aginst 5m length Vovox by means of an active mic splitter.

I don't care much about the audio quality of a mic cable. It's durability is more important to me.
