Out of stock

Just called SamAsh and it looks like they are out of stock on this unit. 3-4 weeks before they get it in so it seems as though we'd miss the rebate? Or at least thats what the individual at SamAsh said.

Just a warning... I was about to pull the trigger on this so I could get it in time for the rebate. Yamaha is out of stock until mid-March.

I just found that out the hard way, None of my usual retailers had any and the ones who still had old inventory would not price match at all, They said the Sam Ash price was ridiculous and they would loose money trying to compete, So for now i just have to wait it out and see if i can get a new stock at 699 what a bummer

Musicians friend and guitar center. They both beat competitors by 10% advertised prices. I worked for MF for a while and they are really good about it to. All they want is the Web site address and they get cosign from a tls and its cleared.

GC a no go they said the list price at Sam Ash is different from there MSRP and should be listed at 1299 instead of 999 he attempted to prove me wrong by going to the Steinberg web site to check what there site says, and guess what he could not find anything, This is getting stranger by the day no one really knows what Steinberg is doing so again i wait

I'll tell you what: the Sam Ash advertising price for the MR816 is bogus.
I don't know if Steinberg will extend the rebate program, but as it stands, it ends Jan 31.

Hmmm, anyone with any experience or thoughts using this interface with
OS X, LogicPro, Snow Leopard and the now relevant 64 bit driver potential??

It's a great price for its quality - from what I've read..
but I have a lot of faith in Yamaha or Steinberg when it comes to OS X drivers and support.
Thanks.

I use it on both windows 7x64 and Leapord osx 10.5.8 without any issues!

The regular price is a bagain for its quality... this price is a steal!

I swear i hate retailers that make these claims that they will beat any price advertised but when a product such as this hits market with an incredible sale price.. The "Pro Gear" giants always seem to find a way to get around to honoring their advertisment claims.. that sucks!!!!!!

and further more.. i wouldnt purchase a interface from Guitar Center anyhow.. b/c My local GS has a sign in front of the cash register stating that they do not accept returns on certain equipment .. and one of those equipment included audio interfaces??? Ironic huh? tutt

That's not the case here.
First of all in order to match the competitor's price, the item needs to be available(the competitor must have it in stock) which obviously is not the case with Sam Ash.
Second, the people at Sam Ash don't know what they're talkin about.
I was at the Manhattan store today and nobody could tell me for sure if the sale price they advertise is for real or not. That truly sux.

Not returns on audio interfaces thats sucks major ass this must be a new policy, So if its broke that means you have to return the unit back to the manufacturer????? The economy is starting to put a tight squeeze on the Pro Audio industry but this is the lowest of the low, has me wondering whats next

p.s All the retailers online (Zzounds, American Music Supply, Sweetwater and Guitar Center) told me flat out -No-, Even if Sam Ash had any Mr8s in stock that they wouldnt even consider that price under any circumstances, Man it started to get embarrassing till i just gave up

Screw you Sam Ash Screw you!!!!!!!!!!!

JRRShop.com has it for the same price as samash.com, so I don't think samash are isolated in the new price. However, like other retailers JRR seem to be out of stock. I got an email saying they were expecting new arrivals in late february. I went ahead and placed an order with JRR and they charged my card through paypal (which hopefully helps with the rebate's 1/31 deadline) whereas samash seems to only charge once the item has shipped.

You cannot complete the Steinberg rebate card unless you have the UPC code from the actual box of the unit. How you gonna do that?

That is CORRECT, you have to cut it off the box and send it in with the rebate form
The FORM has to be filled out as well so AGAIN, you need the box.

The rebate states that the unit must be purchased by 1/31, but the rebate form doesn't need to be mailed in until 2/28. So, hopefully the unit I ordered will arrive before the end of february which will give me time to cut out the UPC label and mail in the rebate form.

If I'm not mistaken the purchase has to be by 1/31 and the return of the rebate with UPC is by 2/28 so if it does ship early/mid Feb there would be a chance to qualify. I've traded emails with both Ash and JRR but have no confidence in their responses. Perhaps you could hedge your bets by ordering it at $699, bug them on the expected ship date and if it going to blow past the window to receive it and turn around the rebate with the UPC code you could cancel your order. Although $699 is a pretty good price either way.
