RZA's drum sound from this youtube video...

YouTube - BLAKROC webisode 4: feat. RZA

I'll be heading into the studio sometime soon with limitless options for recording live music, I would like to get this drum sound. Any suggestions?

Also, if you haven't seen the video, enjoy it ... it's pretty cool to watch this guy work.

Thanks in advance.

RZA + SM58, guitar, in a studio VIDEO - warning.

RZA laid down the guitar with pat playing drums. Dan put more guitar on after.
Every sound I tracked on this record was intended to be ****ed up. I used the "wrong" setup for every single thing on this record except the vocals.

The drums on this one were tracked with a mono M88 overhead, beta 52 as a bottom snare mic.. copperphone randomly placed between the snare and hat about 2 feet back... like TOTALLY random to force myself to make something crazy differently during mixing.
We ( me and the black keys) as the producers then got Tchad (blake) to mix like 5 of the songs. I mixed a few.

There is a version of this record that I mixed entirely, and it was mastered by Brian Gardner. That is mostly the stuff you hear on these webisodes. The final has me and Tchad blake mixing, and it was mastered at Gateway.
