Connecting Phonic helix 18mk2 to DAC

Hi.

I used to work with apogee mini dac to mix projects in cubase, it worked fine
with the firewire extention as asio...

when i added the helix 18 and installed the driver, the apogee's firewire
screwed and now it won't work...

i'v connected the SPDIF output of the helix to the coax input of the mini dac.
the problem is that i can't use the apogee as a clock master...
1.how can i solve this issue?
2.is there any benefit from using the helix dacs??

thanks...

I think the phonic has to be the clock master. Don't quote me on if but I think that's how it was with my 24 mk2.
