mxl v69 vs mxl v6 - difference/sound

anybody help me in deciding for which type to go, please.
I need two more mics, preferably "a little tubey", and costeffective for rehearsal room recordings on tiny (say no) budget.
i don t want to bring in the expensive mics (no budget, no high end, transport insurance is higher than budget), but need some "good sounding" and workhorse mics.
mics should be good for vocals, gits and the common stuff.

so far i planned:
gits go with the e609s and 57, drums with sennheiser drum pack and d112, overheads are c4, oktava 012s and nt5s for the common rest (steelstring guitars etc), oktava 319s for rooms, and now i need some mics that go nice for vocals, ambient etc and fit into the sonic layout.

anybody help me out here, or point to decent alternatives. please no se c1s, got that already.
thanks !

mxl mic's

The v69 is a hell of a nice sounding mic and you can't beat the price at all on them.
The only problem I had is it can overload with some vocalist. I never tried the v6 but it should handle more db because it's not tube,I would think.

Just my 2 cents........

I have both - the V6 is brighter and not as good as the V69ME for general vocals.

Get the V69.

I also have both, and while I agree that the V6 is brighter, I like it better on my voice (the only voice I record). The V69ME is somewhat darker and less spacious.

I guess that's why you gotta try them for yourself! Or be slutty and get both!!
