Just messin around this morning. Woke up and was thinking of the song "Ode to Billy Joe", and started putting my own lyrics to it. Recorded with my gap pre 73. This is for conservatives, liberals won't like it., lol.

swine flu isn't a huge deal. get over it.

also, was the Rode used on vocals and guitar?

I will gladly pay for flu shots. Just ask the folks in Canada and Britain about their massive socialized system. Yes same mic on everything.

Wasn't meant to be a keeper track, just having some fun. Could have hooked up the MXL 603's but the NT1A was already hooked up and in the stand.

Yeah, this comes across as very bright on my mains.
Probably not the best fit between a mic & voice/guitar... Eq?

But point well taken - it's a nice pre.
Still hard to believe the price of these things!

IS THIS THE STOCK PRE?

Song cracks me up... in a sad way. Love it though.

Libs, no sense of humor, or too dumb to understand the lyrics in relation to current events, so they think the lyrics are dumb.

This was unmodded pre. Just one guitar track doubled and slightly offset. Probably the room is bad making things overbright. Strings are from Sampletank. Voice was also run through my effects unit using converters and I forgot to mute the effects, so then reverb was in mono, just didn't feel like doing it again.

was it supposed to be funny? Or, do you mean "it's funny because it's absurd"?

I think the lyrics are dumb because it's all basic recycled Fox News crap criticisms. You know what would be a better topic for your lyrics? Solutions to the healthcare crisis.

You don't like the healthcare bills that are being written? Go figure out a better solution. Make sure it's under 500 pages or else it will make "conservative's" brains hurt. Heaven forbid it be thorough.

I'm in the UK. I believe the National Health Service is one of the greatest things we have here. But then I believe in affordable health care for all.
Same with education. Shouldn't be driven by profit motives.

No doubt you feel differently about it. No problem.

I don't want to get into a political discussion on here, but as you mentioned UK healthcare I just wanted to let you know that it is a wonderful - though not perfect of course - service. Please don't believe all the propaganda about it used to attack Obama.

Over and out.

Sounds good. Any EQing or compressing going on? Rode used on all instruments?

Too bad this thread is becoming a politcal discussion

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the sample. Can you present a dry version of the vocal? Or were guitar and vocal recorded @ the same time?

Thanks,
Mick

PRE-73 sounds pretty nice.

Just to take you to task on your received opinions, the UK's National Health Service is fantastic. It's not without its problems but it's better than paying 5 figures and more in situations requiring serious medical attention. And it's not like it killed our private healthcare sector anyway, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Glenn Beck himself has said that the medical care in your country is in need of serious reform just a year or so ago - what happened to that? Oh right, it's an idea by the Democrats and therefore must be shot down. Yeah, that's the route to progress alright.

As for UK healthcare, I heard hours of horror stories about the Gov refusing to pay for needed operations, I know that breast cancer is a much worse killer there because of medicine cost. I know that sick people from Canada come here when they can for their medical needs because the Canadian system refuses to pay for their medeical needs. The horror stories are numerous and could be read for a week straight. 84 percent of the US people are satified witrh their healthcare. We don't want waiting lists, low quality, socialistic healthcare. The libs will be thrown out of congress next year, book it.

As for the recording, it was one acoustic track, copied and panned to both sides, and I used the nudge command in Sonar to move one side slightly off. The vocal track was accidently recorded through my effects unit in stereo, but the track was set to record in mono. I forgot to mute the effects on the effects unit. I wanted to put the reverb on after I recorded the vocals then the reverb would have been in stereo.

BigGovHealth | Health Care Horror Stories Check this out and tell me you have a good health system in the UK. Sorry, Americans are glad to pay for the best, we don't like socialism here.

And here's something you libs should hear and learn instead of letting the nuts on MSNBC teach you.
YouTube - Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine

YouTube - Ronald Reagan Speech - 1964 Republican National Convention

For the UK folks, as Reagan said, what happens when a certain doctor wants to move to a certain city and practice medicine there, what if that city already has the number of doctors the gubmint says they need there?

The lyrics are nuts. Only in America. To the "conservatives": Do yourselves a favor and travel around the world a little. And your own country. Look how the lack of health care affects people. That cognitive dissonance will be hard to bear. You are being lied to by a purely profit-motivated band of crooks. They laugh about you privately.

All the money wasted in Iraq would have paid for years and years of first-rate health care for everyone.

Anyway, the recording sounds good to me. Now work some more to get the facts straight.
