Steinberg mr816 windows 7 cubase 5

Anyone using this setup? Thinking about buying Steinberg CSX mr816 but interested in how it works with windows 7.

And inputs 1 and 2 do not bypass the preamps correct?

Thanks for that and the pm as well.

Shanabit (sorry if this is repetitive)
1.if I wanted to use a compressor (I have a distressor) and place into one of the inserts for mixing can I bypass the pre's tonally?
2. reamping guitars should be bo no problem with a reamp box?
3. Can we use two sets of monitors with this output 1/2 and 3/4...are you able to switch back and forth somehow? Or do I need to keep my presonus cs?

Asking this for my brother who would like to get rid of his fireface for this as he is hearing the tonal quality on this seems (from reviews) to have more depth and width and is cheaper

INSERT I/O jacks 1 and 2
These phone-type unbalanced I/O jacks can be used to
connect external effect units or another device for processing
the audio signals already input to the
MR816 CSX/MR816 X via the MIC/LINE/HI-Z jack (analog
input jack 1) and MIC/LINE jack (analog input jack 2)
respectively. In the internal circuitry, these jacks are positioned
immediately before the A/D converters
(included in
the MR816 CSX/MR816 X). The audio signal input via the
MIC/LINE/HI-Z jack will be transferred to the effect unit or
other device connected to INSERT I/O jack 1 then
returned to INSERT I/O jack 1. Likewise, the audio signal
input via the MIC/LINE jack will be transferred to the effect
unit or other device connected to INSERT I/O jack 2 then
returned to INSERT I/O jack 2.

Check page 52 in the manual as well.

I honestly havent looked at the issue yet as I really dont care.
I ran a Avalon 737 into my Roland VS2480 pres and it was fine
Didnt screw up the sound and the MR816 has better AD/DA

IF he needs to truly BYPASS the pres, he may have to look elsewhere
Why not get one and run it into the RME via ADAT. Hed still have the RME for direct inserts if you will and also have the
MR816 conversion. He wouldnt have the fancy Cubase interaction in that case though.

Hit up Warren at Zen Pro Audio direct with ANY questions you have as I honestly cant answer them all
