Advice on 8 channel mic pre

Current set up: Digi 003r and Mackie 800r.

I'm wondering if the pres and AD in the steinberg mr816 would be a step up over the mackie 800r if I use the adat out on mr816 into the 003r. Or maybe the profire 2626?

Or would it wiser to make use of the spdif, with a higher end 2 channel pre and 2 channel AD?

What you've got looks good to me.

This is low end theory.

Since you have the 800R, look to the SPDIF converter/pre options or consider pres to go in the 003 line ins (assuming you don't have the 8 pre version).

Search the forum - You'll find plenty of info on mr816 pres and ADAs

Hi, start looking for good individual mic pres as the 003 and the mackie are more the sufficient pre“s and converters, I would look for a great pre for vocals and guitar preferably 2 actually, and a good DI.
Work harder at the source cause that is where it all starts you already have good means to capture a good source/performance.
