Thread Starter | KRK rokit rp-8's or Event TR8's
Hello Forum, I'm in a rut. I'm going to by a pair of active near field monitors, and my limit is $500. For the money, which one of these would ya'll choose? I've listened to them both, but I want your opinions. |

| If you can't find something better in the price range, I see no reason not to buy the KRK speakers. You always seem to get good value for your money with KRK. I imagine the Events are made in China as well.... -tINY |

I actually just bought monitors and was looking at these same two that you are. I ended up getting the Event TR-6's. The reason I settled on them were that the KRK Rockets sounded too scooped and flattering, sort of home stereo like in a way. They did sound good but they didn't seem flat to me. Flatness is very important to studio monitors so that you hear whats there, not an exaggeration of what's there. The Events seemed much flatter and focused with a pronouncement in the upper midrange area that is important. THey don't scoop the sound out but the low end is there. In my opinion, if the monitors you have are pronounced in he midrange than you'll have to work harder to create space in that area for the overlapping frequencies and when you get it sounding good, its probably gonna sound good on other systems as well. Hope this helps, may the force be with you.. |

| If you can swing a pair of KRK V6 series 2 or a halfway decent amp and a pair of KRK ST6 monitors, you'd probably be better off. In fact, I think you can get two ST6's for about $250 and a decent amp for another $250. That might be a good wayt o go as the ST6 is a great sounding speaker. -tINY |

i prefer the events, and own a pair myself (also picked them over the krk's). for the same reason listed above--the krk's sounded too hyped. i find that my event mixes translate very well. --jon

I hate Events that i've used. Love Vseries KRK that I've used- bought Yamaha msp5 recently for around that budget- happy with them.
