just for perspective, all interfaces (and protocols) that i know of have experienced initial teething problems that are eventually ironed out. the downside of being an early-adopter is that you also become an unpaid beta tester (which sucks, but happens).

i should point out that even my fireface was unusable/buggy for the first few months after i bought it. but, since the drivers have been fixed, it's earned a very good reputation.

everyone's entitled to their opinion, but dismissing mlan because of it's initial bugs (which have been fixed) doesn't make much sense to me. mlan works and the hardware's great, imo.
Hey Junior,

Thanks for all your help thus far. How does the A/D and D/A compare on the i88x to the Fireface? Like I said before, I was going to go with an Onyx 400F but this sounds like a great deal.

BTW, the pres are very very clean..are they ok for rock?

Thanks Junior !

i think the pres are good. if you don't already have "clean" pres, these would be more than worth the price alone... as far as the converters go, i haven't a/b'ed them with the ff800, but they sound really good to me.

for $399, you could pick up an i88x -and- have money left over to put toward outboard converters, pres or mics (that would make a bigger difference to your sound, imo)... or, add other mlan gear (like the 01x, ksp8, motif, apogee ad8000/trak2, etc) - lots of options.
