Question Advice on DA -converters needed!

Hey guys.

I´m considering buying a Mindprint Trio for monitoring and maybe some
tracking tasks (if needed).
I own a Hammerfall 9632 and a pair of Fostex Pm-1.
Now to get to the point...I was wondering if should use the Trio´s or the
9632 converters for DA conversion.
What is your opinion about the sound of these two or the 9632 comparing to
other (cheaper or more expensive) converters?
I would appriciate any advice since my only reference are musch more crappy
DAs (soundblaster, old dats, effects and such things that are at my hands).

Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

Use the RME ones you allready have, and if you need more outputs try getting the RME Hammerfall 4stereo d/a module,it will fit next to the PCI card and get power from an pci slot(so you need to have one free) but they are quite affordable and sound very very good. RME converters are way better than mindprint or others and one league below Apogee, lavry, etc but for their price they can't be beaten currently.

Where are you based and whats your budget? Im selling my Motu 828 MkII firewire interface if that will help? of course then you have digital ins and outs and a host of a load of other goodies with it.

Thanks

hey J,
don't you think he allready has a decent audiocard why try to hook him up to your stuff? a RME pci card could be more stable than any mutu FW device in case of trouble, and you can change/choose your quality converters when you have more budget.

Hey.
So, it got over me and i went out to buy the Trio with the spdif otion and...
how crappy this AD/DA option does sound.
I don´t really get the product policy behind it.
The thing sounds not that bad at all i dig the concept of the monitor section, having an extra "Red Box" at hand is cool and even the preamp sounds okay and very much like mindprint (to a certain degree) in a quick test i did.
Having said that, I A/B´d the converters by connecting both analog and the spdif from the daw and the Rme´s built in converters are really a different league.
Anyway, i got a friend comin today with a Benchmark Dac-1 to see how this one compares.
I just don´t understand why they even put a converter like this in a (for the price) decent sounding box.

And thanks for the "Motu offer" but i think i´ll invest in an additional 9652 and some decent Ads cause i just love the Hdsp cards.

Wish u guys a nice saturday.
Greetings Paul
