Re: badly needing help!!. this BCF2000 is driving me to nuts!!

ok i have just started using the bcf2000 with my cubase sx3. i am a terrible
noob!!. i have read up
the French converted english PDF in one of the yahoo forums for bcf2000.
I had read it and i tried first setting up the machine . i installed the machine
in my computer with midi driver BCFBCR2000v1213.zip and now my audio, video game
controller shows B-Control MIDI ( 10/19/2005 ) 1213. booted up the bcf in ncc
Then as said i set up mackie control in cubase with in and out to BCF2000(01)
clicked apply and ok.
the BCF responded and 01.02 appeared in the lcd display. when put and audio
track the first fader came up. i was happy.the cubase mixer responded to the
fader movements

when i closed newly opened project the fader still stayed there in the up
position only after which nightmare started.
the display still shows 01.02.
when i opened an already existing project which i had done before ( comprising
of many midi/audio tracks) the fader wouldnt move to appropriate position at
all.
even after the close of the cubase the display still shows 01.02 it doesnt come
back rto ncc at all. it comes only after rebooting the machine

before doing all these i completely uninstalled midiyoke and huskervu and
rebooted the computer and did the installation.
can someone tell me what is wrong with the way i do?. is it possible to mix my
already existing project with bcf? if yes then how?. why doesnt the bcf come
back to ncc after closing the cubase is this normal?
some one please help i am desperate
ps: i used midiox so sendf the sysex file to bcf

i have had no formal training with controllers so please help me as i am
desperate to set this thing
please do reply
and help me in mixing my latest song

cheers
drashkum

ps: if i have posted it in a inappropriate forum kindly move it. i really dont know where to post this

sounds like you need to update the bcf firmware. 1.02 is old. the one i had on mine oem was 1.07. that was like 5 years ago. i updated to 1.10. very few problems now. i have no idea how cubase works with it, but with sonar, it is pretty reliable. actually, i had such a hard time getting them to work initially, that the 2 bcf's i had stayed in the closet for almost 3 years before i tried to use them again. i still have my bcf on my desk, but when i move my studio, it will be replaced with my us-2400(on standby. what a wonderful surface). good luck with the bcf, great utilitarian controller.

Update firmware to 1.10

Everything should work then as it should

My BCF was collecting dust almost two years, but recently I've been recording e-drums by myself and drums are a bit far away from my "mixing desk".

So now I have it as a transport controller, click toggler, rec/stop/save/delete etc.

I won't sell it no more, it's a really valuable tool, at least for me, nowadays.

you have to start BCFVIEW.EXE before booting cubase

when mackie control is in the cubase devices list, select it, choose setup tab on right and assign in/out midi ports for it

then close cubase

then boot bcf into mackie control (hold down top row button 2 & power-up - the display shows:

NC C (MACKIE CONTROL)

then it shows EG in the display - ok you now must edit the global parameters correctly

in EG (edit global) use the top row of pots and select the following:

U_2 (usb mode 2 - select this using pot1 on top) & ID_1 (unit's id number - select using pot5 on top)

also, adjust pot 3 on top of the bcf to show AUTO

once all that is set, click EXIT on bcf to exit EG (edit global) - thats all set then and will boot up like that with those settings each time you turn it on

if you add another one to get 16 channels of control, set it the same but set it to ID2 also you'll need to install a second mackie-control in the device setup in cubase

ok

then start BCFVIEW.EXE

then start cubase

try all that

once it's done right, the bcfview blue display jumps to life showing stuff and the fader rise up when you load a default song - try loading a default 24 audio tracks template

reveal the left-column fader display... now use the arrow keys on keyboard to scroll down/up the tracks in cubase arrange page

the bcf follows, BUT... it does not do bank-changes in cubase, so once you pass track 8 the lights dont display on bcf and you must manualy forward to the next bank on the bcf using the PRESET forward/back arrow keys

cubase follows the bcf ok, you just must use the PRESET forward/back arrow keys

The BCF follows cubase in the vertical sdtack on arrange page, meaning whatever order things are stacked on in the arrange page track header column, bcf follows that order, in steps of 8

so try to keep the arrange page setup with things in devisions of 8 - eg

8 x audio 8 x audio 8 x audio 8 x buss 8 x vsti 16 x midi

etc

that way you dont get a preset bank on bcf showing 3 audio tracks and 5 midi tracks or whatever, it always show 8 of the same as you step down/up in blocks of 8 tracks
