Toft ATC-2 or Chameleon Labs 2x 7602 + 7802

I am looking for a channel strip and am keen on either the Toft ATC-2 or Chameleon Labs 2x 7602 + 7802.

What would you choose out of the above?

I will be using it for solo experimental electronics/modular synths to channel strip to reel to reel to computer.

I'm only familiar with the Toft ATC-2 of what you listed, but I can say the 80s style EQ will probably add a lot if you're into that era in electro. The compressor does it job, but I don't think the FET compressor is doing anything special or interesting to the signal it is very clean, the INA217 base pre is very clean too. Good for drums.

Ask yourself what are you looking for? Purity and clarity or mangling and colour? The ATC-2 is a very good and nice clean tool.

If you're looking for some pre colour, in that price range I like the Joemeek TwinQ pre with the Iron switch on, that will give you a nice twack on attacks and it's more colorful overall. The eq is very workable too, albeit not as special as the one on the ATC-2.

you say "experimental music" in your post.. I think the ATC-2 might be too nice and clean for you. ?

i guess i am looking for something to add a bit of warmth and hiss, like the Anamod ATS-1 but that is way too expensive for me.
I guess the tape can add the hiss and tape sound I just want a little colour.
