Minimoog Voyager & MOTU Ultralite SetUp

Hello ppl

Maybe this is pointless, but I just bought my first hardware synth, and I want to check if my setup is right, because i'm getting low input levels from the moog.

The setup is somethign like this:

Voyager UNBAL OUTs --(2 TS cables, 1L & 1R)--> MOTU's Analog Inp. 3&4. Mixer -inf dB, 0Trim.
MIDI keyboard OUT --(MIDI)--> Voyager MIDI IN
MIDI keyboard USB --(USB)--> Laptop USB
MOTU MainOUTs --(TS pair)--> Pair of Event 8XL Monitors BAL input

Logic Pro 8 with two tracks:
- 1 External MIDI Instrument track, record enabled.
- 1 Stereo Audio Track @0dB, inputs 3-4, outputs 1-2.

Description:

Its a Minimoog Voyager Rack. I connect the unbalanced ouputs to my MOTU Ultralite (not mk3) with a pair of TS cables (will buy TRS as soon as they arrive at store and change outputs to balanced). Set MasterOutput to 100%. MOTU's internal mixer is 0dB and 0 Trim.

Also connected via MIDI my keyboard controler into the Voyager. The keyboard is also connected via USB to the computer.

To play the synth, I open Logic Pro 8, creat an External MIDI track, record enable, then create an Audio Track Stereo, record enable, and play.

It works fine, but the levels are very low. I tought that being a voyager, the level would be hot, but it is not.

Am I doing something wrong or it is normal and I should use Trim and stop worrying about it?

Is there a better way to connect all this? in order to get a hotter level from the moog?

Thanks!!! :D

The way youve connected it is correct to my knowledge. Is it a Voyager RME? Known hardware problems are low output/flickering of sound and preset screen.

Most likely thats not they case as Moogs are well built, so make sure you check every volume knob there is. Is there any software that goes with your Motu? Have you checked all settings?

You mention on the Mk3 you've got your mixer at -inf. I've not got any motu products but I'd say meddle about with the mixer software, it sounds like you've inadvertently turned down the inputs from the Moog when they enter the mk3... (3/4 aren't preamped are they?) Good luck anyway
