Which compressor would you see more appropriate for acoustic/chill music?

Both well-loved low-end compressors: either the RNLA, or the ART Pro VLA II.

Mainly for vocals, acoustic instruments, soft drums, and stereo mix/buss/limiting duties. I absolutely love to 'slam' things as well.

I'm thinking the RNLA, for it's color and sonic footprint from samples I've heard of the generous folks on here, and it's very small, compact unit, with a wider range of attack/release times compared to the ART I believe.

Though the ART is 'tube,' has VU meters, (and albeit probably not the best way to see it), is dual mono AND stereo linked, and it looks a tad more professional. Though it would take up the rest of my rack (they take up 2 spaces, right?) and it's about $50 more than the RNLA as per eBay. Hm.

If you'd happen to have experience/sound clips/praises/hates of either unit, let's hear it!

The only other experience with outboard compressors are the dbx 266xl and the RNC (which is amazing, but too transparent imo).

and to not make another thread, I'd be very interested in purchasing either of these from you if you're selling...you can just PM about that if you wish.

Rock on guys.

Sorry I had to pull the plug early, but I just ordered a RNLA for virtually $160 new! I'd still be curious as to what people prefer...
