Budget vocal and acoustic mic

i'm looking for a vocal mic and an acoustic guitar mic.

for the vocal mic i'm wanting to spend 500 or less used. I"ve been looking at at4050, c414 or maybe a tube condensor mic. I've got a baritone range, and wanting something to make my voice sound fuller and warmer.

also looking for a good acoustic guitar mic

Blue Bluebird works great on some vocals, and is a VERY good acoustic guitar mic.

Also, and MXL 960 with a tube swap (I like a Mullard 4024) works very well on Barritone vocals, and is good on acoustic guitar.

Heck... for $500 you could get both...

A very good male vocal "warm" mic and good acoustic mic is the ADK Hamburg, MK8.

Well under your budget, too.

What kind of pre are you running??

I'm going to suggest the shure sm7 of course...
it's a dynamic but it beats the pants off of a lot of the cheaper condensers that I've used.

Kel audio also makes some decent lower budget mics.. heck, for $500 I think you can probably get a kel hm7u and a kel hm2d and then you'd have 2 decent vocal mics.

or you could spend a bit more on the acoustic mic.

The Oktava mc012 and the Shure sm81 are easy and obvious choices..

The BLUE Dragonfly can work beautifully in both of those applications. They can be had used within your budget or new (b stock) ones for just a little over.

I have managed to get some great acoustic guitar tracks with the SP C1mk2,
on vocals its more of a hit or miss, sometimes it works sometimes its pure sibilence.

The Kel mics are very cool.. can't go wrong with 'em.

The AT4047 is also a good suggestion.
I've heard a few people say that the HM7 is similar to the AT4047.

I'd say either the AT mics or the AKG 214. That 214 is impressive. You can find them on ebay for fairly cheap.

As you can see from this thread (and countless other exactly like it) there are a number of mics generally regarded as good in the budget category. You probably won't go wrong with nearly all the suggestions here.

So get busy!

AT 4050 can be had from Musician's Friend until August 31st for 20% off of the $699 list. There you go - under $500. Just call - no online ordering! - and tell them you have a post card as a returning customer and give them the code - 20%.

Just got mine last week. Great swiss army mic. Oh, and it comes with case and shock mount. Nice.

I'm sure that's a solid recommendation, but you goofed on the math -- $700 -20% is $560.

You caught me. List is $699, but the normal MF price is $599. So, -20% is the $479 I mentioned. Sorry.

A pair of used 414s would work; and for less money you could get an ADK Hamburg for your voice and an ADK Vienna for the guitar - the original models can be had quite cheaply and they work just fine.
