Thread Starter | what's a good replacement tube for my TubePre?
I know this is a cheap piece of gear, but what kind of replacement tube would I see a difference with. I use tubepre for acoustic guitars and Bass.

I'm not familiar with this piece, nor do i know what tube is already in it.. but, check out www.thetubestore.com. They have nice little blurbs about each of the tubes they sell that give you an idea about how they sound. I picked up a couple tubes from them a little while ago for a distortion pedal and i found the descriptions to be pretty accurate.

I tried different NOS tubes in a Bluetube preamp several years ago and there was very little if any difference. If you set the drive high, like past 12:00, and listen real hard for a difference, well maybe. But a different tube won't have any real world night and day improvement. It's basically a transistor preamp with a vanity valve. But let me stop you from trying. Your results might be different.

I like that phrase: "vanity valve". But who is the one being vain, the preamp or the owner?
