| Furman M8x Power Conditioners So I just purchased a new power conditioner for my rack. I figured I should do a shoot out to see the HUGE WORLD OF IMPROVEMENT. Literally didnt notice a difference at all. I cranked my pres and recorded a few seconds worth then plugged my rack into the M8x and did the same. Even when I zoom into the wave form, there isnt a difference between the two recordings. Am I doing something wrong? Is it my own fault for buying the cheapest power conditioner on the market? Should I be looking for improvements elsewhere? "Clean" electricity blows me mind.. |

| If you don't hear any difference, then it's probably working normally. I've never had a regular power conditioner that did anything but stop surges during bad storms. Basicaly a glorified surge supressor. Even the $250 ones with the pull-out lights didn't do anything for me. The only time I noticed anything is when I bought a $1,000 Furman balanced power unit. It still doesn't kill all the noise but helped a lot with the noise floor/white noise in general. I'd love to get an online UPS but the subject requires much research on my part and I just don't have the patience right now.

| "Power Conditioning" in the way Furman imagines it is junk science. The power supply on your hardware already does the job they claim to be doing. A quality UPS is your best bet. ![]() |

| I'm going to play devils advocate and say I did notice a difference once I got mine. Maybe it's because I'm on Long Island and we have some of the crappiest power anywhere in the state. I don't know. Either way, I do love mine and wouldn't want to part with it. Just my 2¢. |

| the online opti ups looks really nice. i feel like i could run the space shuttle with that thing. $450 is a lot, but 450 worth of furman wouldnt keep up in the least. furman is now on my shit list right next to auralex. overpriced products that really dont do a thing. one of these days ill learn, go big or go home. nothing cheap is ever worth it. |

You can't have "clean" power unless it comes off the tap clean, so to speak. Hire an electrician to make sure your grounding is solid and that there aren't shorts between circuits. Like anything else in this buisness, there isn't a magic box for this problem.

My rack is cleaner and protected. And it sounds better, with its brand new placebo effects circuit.

| Does the M-8X get more hot than a normal power bar? I'm just looking for something that would make it cleaner in my rack and that has a power button on the front. |

| Also, does it induce noise in the audio cables around it? That's pretty important to me. Otherwise I'll just buy a 5$ power bar, I wish I could afford a balanced power unit... |

| Little bump. I'd really like to know if this thing introduce noise into cables. For example if I put in it my rack right under my 4 TT patchbays, will it induce noise into my patchbay? It's quite important that I know. thanks |

| Lives for gear | I have several M-8L's here, never noticed issues with cabling but I'm using all balanced connections. My interface sits on top of the power conditioner. I just like having a universal power switch. |

| Just wire a single switched outlet to the side of your rack then have anything else behind. Much easier to keep power separate from signal that way aswell. |
