Fleet foxes

ive been listening to the fleet foxes for over a year now and i was wondering how thay get that rich harmonic vocal sound. I know they use lots of reverb but i want to know where each vocal part sits in the mix. every attempt i make at this is a failure. each part sticks out like a sore thumb, nohting blends. ive got three voices to use. bass, tenor, and a male folsetto. help!

specifically an EMT 140 was used which really riches things up the sound.

i would give credit to their vocal arrangements too. they know their ranges and what sounds good, this can be more key than the recording chain IMO.

amazing band, glad they're getting some recognition.

even their Sun Giant EP (which from what i understand was largely recorded by them) sounds rich.

their vocal arrangements are definitely what makes it rich, but that huge reverb doesn't hurt!

Robin Peknold is actually a member of this forum, so you could pm him, possibly.

Also, there is another thread called "Fleet Foxes" with info in it, just search for it.

Send a message via AIM to Phil Feinman
It's funny that you ask that question because I was thinking the same thing the other day. Luckily, Phil Ek is a friend of mine so I sent him an email asking about it. He told me that he just used a good old plate reverb. Nothing else. Sounds great though!
