Thread Starter | Treating a rented room Hi, I should be renting a place for doing recording and rehearsals on the next year, but i am a little worried with what i can do to the room. I mean, it will be a rented place, very few mods will be allowed, so i will need something to treat the room that is removable. What would be your opinions on how to handle this situation ? The rooms (one for recording and one for mixing) probably will be square-shaped or retangle-shaped. I guess i could use MDF or another cheap 'wood' to 'unsquare' it. Would this work ? I appreciate any feedback you can give me. Thanks, Ivan |

| i know it sounds barmy, but i'm a gret beleiver in Futon matresses... Not cheap crappy fake foam-filled ones, but proper ones filled with multiple layers of cotton wadding... hang em up on walls with hooks and sewn-on cotton loops at 12" intervals to make cheap absorber panels. Roll double-sized futons up into sausages and strap them in a sausage shape with a few bungee straps to stop them unrolling, and then place the rolled-up 'sausages' in room corners standing verticaly etc. plus you get plenty of 'crashing' beds for musician sleep-overs if you just unhook them from the walls - buy cheap s/h in the free ads and they are VERY cost effective ![]() |

| Ivan, > i will need something to treat the room that is removable ... i could use MDF or another cheap 'wood' to 'unsquare' it < If it's only for a year, I wouldn't worry about changing the room dimensions as much as just getting enough bass trapping and other acoustic treatment in there. Good bass traps, and enough of them, can pretty much remove the room from what you hear. --Ethan

| Like Ethan said don't worry about "unsquaring it", you need bass trapping and other acoustic treatments to get rid of standing waves, flutter echoes, etc. Realtraps and ASC Tubetraps will fit the bill perfectly. Both are movable. |
