Can you guys characterize the sound of either/both and ideally the differences? I'm trying to track down a place to listen to these but unsuccessful so far. Is the Pro Desk worth double the price? What are you giving up with the Media Desk? My application is for hobby DAW mixing (primarily video) and music listening. Thanks! |

I have used both. They are kissing cousins. You might choose based on the size of your space and the volume level you want.

Thread Starter | I don't need ear-splitting SPL's as I'm in a typical den type studio so that's good to know... they sound similar? How would you characterize the sound?

A pleasure to use. Not hyped, accurate, mixes translate well. The satellite/ subwoofer concept works nicely. The Blue Skies are properly unkind to crappy program material. One observation -- they don't have a really wide "sweet spot." So, they are studio monitors, not living room speakers. They are robust, as we have used them hard for years. Another point in their favor -- the customer service has been fabulous. Any time I've had an issue, it has been rectified promptly and properly. That counts a lot! |

I was able to get the Pro Desk 2.1 for $700 at the Hollywood Guitar Center. They are having a blow-out on this stuff... Pro Sat 5 MkII for $279 each and the Pro 8 Sub for $149. |
