substitute for Presonus Firestudio

Hi,
I use a Presonus Firestudio with 2 Presonus Digimax FS (connected with adat cables), so I get 24 total tracks.
Unfortunately the firestudio is far from being reliable: really poor driver and unstable software-monitor applications. Every remote gig is a trouble to get it working.

So I would like to know if there is an audio interface with these features:

- 8 mic preamps on the front side
- 2 adat in
- really stable OSX driver

Let me know your ideas!

Echo devices can be run in parallel. You could get two Echo Audiofire 12s. Or if you need ADAT inputs, the echo layla 3g pci.

sorry I forget to tell you I need a USB2/FIREWIRE/FIREWIRE800 device since I use a laptop.

My Laptop Mobile rig is the most reliable setup I have ever used.

An RME Fireface 800, with 2 Presonus FS units connected with ADAT cables.

It has been flawless, rock solid drivers and a GREAT monitor mix applet. If you shop around you can find "open box" or "B stock" for around $1200. The best money I have spent.

yes, the fireface 800... that's an interface...
do you use it on Windows or OSX?

i run a firestudio 2626 with digimax as adat extenders, too. drivers were flaky until the latest beta with sonar 8. after i upgraded to sonar 8 all driver issues went away.
i can understand your frustration and i had really thought long and hard about selling it in lieuof the focusrite saffire 2626. so i would recommend that.

I just recently got a MOTU 2408 mkII modded by BLA and added their Micro Clock (motu incorporates a really jittery clock).

The drivers leave a bit to be desired, but I got it working and it hasn't let me down yet.

You want to make sure you test a different interface first before buying it. It may very well be your laptop's firewire chip.
