Tripp Lite IS-1000 Isolation Transformer??

I got this to help clean up some 60Hz hum Im getting in a guitar amp. It didnt do the trick.

Should I send it back, or should I keep this to use with my outboard rack gear?

I dont know that it is doing anything. Its $250 bucks and supplies about 10Amps of current, so I can safely run my rack from it. But I dont know if it is benefitting me in any way. FOr all I know the tripp lite is just a gimmmick or low quality unit.

Will this improve the noise floor and make my recordings slightly better, or if im not having any problems, should I just send it back? Its not THAT expensive, so im thinking about keeping it.

I've had a tripp-lite 1200 for years. It helps a great deal to limit voltage spikes and electrical noise. My old studio loft had terrible power issues and this iso transformer helped alot. Now, I keep my computer and recording gear hooked up to it.

The building would get brown outs sometimes in the summer and you would hear the tripp working (ie: clicking on and off) and keeping things even.

From what I know, I think Tripp lite has a decent reputation.

Keep it! Clean power is very useful in studios -
will lower the noise floor in you whole rig.
