Thread Starter | vocals help?
i have a groove tube gt66 into digi001... i record in protools 6.4 and use the waves diamond bundle for mixing... im learning how to e.q. and compress my vocals... i do hiphop and sing... usually my vocals (after eq and compression) still sound dull... i try not to over compress so i dont think it's that... i hear recordings of older hiphop artists and it has a nice crispy rasp to it without sounding distorted... how can i make my vocals sound like that without thousands of dallars worth the gear... i like that vintage sound... can anyone help?

Maybe look at the source itself, you sure the vocalist has this "rasp" already?
