Which ones are good? I see a few DBX models around and not much else.

You see a fair amount of the Aphex 612 or 622 gates around. They go pretty cheap on eBay these days, and are built well.

Drawmer MX40 is pretty much the standard for 'affordable' gates.

I'll second the Aphex 600-series stuff. They're more flexible than the Drawmers and more sonically transparent. I sold my Drawmer DS gates to buy six channels of Aphex 612s and actually made money on the deal. The 622s are newer and have a front-panel headphone jack for monitoring the sidechain (which could be great for live sound mixing). They are also typically more expensive used.
