Need some advice

Hey guys!

This is my first post after crawling around for a bit. I need some advice on a dual channel mic-pre for around $1000. I am using a Rhodes NT2 condenser and recording to hardisk. I am looking for a preamp that can be transparent and full sounding on acoustical stuff and also be musically crispy if I hit it hard.

I have looked at the everything from the Apogee Mini-me to the Neve Portico; although, I would rather not spend $1400. Maybe a used Vintech 1272?

I know you guys hate pre-amp questions, but there are no threads on the $1k pricepoint.

Thanks in advance for your opinions guys.

Well the mini-me has convertors too. Are you looking for an interface or just pres. It is hard to get into high quality stuff.

Do you need stereo pres or two different mono pres?

Sytek makes a good 4 channel pre that is clean that is around 800 new and it is professionally used. Also groove tubes makes the "brick" that is about 500 that is a tube pre and direct box.

Maybe the RNP at around 500
and The brick at around 500
The Grace 101 is around 500 but I have never heard that.

The Systek w/burrbrowns gives you 4 for less than 1000.

Stereo would be preferable, or at least a way to link the channels. I am realizing I am gonna have to jump a bit higher than 1k to get something worth a damn. Oh well, guess I will have to be patient.
