Tinty Brassy sound

I just finished up a project of recording vocals and putting to leased tracks. After I finished up and burnt a copy, I was listening in my car and it sounds like crap! Very bright, brassy, the vocals not full. Can anyone make suggestions as to the cause! I'm recording on computer via Samplitude. The effects/processing that took place included: UAD La2a, plate 1040, light eq (LIGHT boost at 10k), precision maximizer (which I took off thinking this was it, helped some but not enough). CD burnt from Samplitude.

Room acoustics
Your monitors
Your microphone
Your preamp

There's a reason why people pay for studio time.

Monitors - Adam A7
Mic - Pearlman TM-1
Pre - Pacifica

Room - not great, but still looking for ways to improve (learn). If we're allowed to do that.
