Get a lunchbox with an API 512C or a Great River 500NV. I just made that upgrade after being "low end" for more than 10 years. The difference is HUGE!

well... how about Tube MP...it's like 40€. Use your 960€ to make your room look beautiful and inspiring to the vocalist.

I wasn't referring to your room acoustics. I was talking about how cool does your room look. How's the overall feeling in that room.

And well.. I havent used Grace. But if I were you I'd stick with that preamp. What's in your mic locker?

I have been using a lot Tube MP, RME, RNP, Great River, Portico... and SM7B just keeps on shining. I wouldn't sweat too much about the preamp..

You might be able to swing both the SM7 and the Great River ME-1NV for your 1000 Euros -- money well spent. You get a mic that complements your collection and a pre that complements your Grace.

All available in Europe, all well under 1,000 Euros and very usable for vocals or any instrument in a studio:
1) Daking Mic Pre One is discrete, Class A, high gain and sounds nice. Single Channel, outboard supply, US made.
2) True Systems P SOLO: nice for condensers and less than Daking. Its a hybrid, part discrete part high end "Burr Brown" type chip. From the guy (Tim Spencer) who used to head up Burr Brown. Single Channel, internal supply, US made.
3) True Systems P SOLO RIBBON: nice for ribbon and dynamic mics with the higher input impedance and higher gain. Single channel, internal supply, US made.
