Good two channel EQ replacement for Ghost EQ

Hey,

A friend of mine has the Soundcraft Ghost mixer. Because of failling components and hedious workflow he decided to get rid of het Ghost and looks for something equal or yet better. He's very familiar with the full parametric EQ and surely knows how to use this in practice.

We've talked a lot about what to buy without doing any compromise (sound-wise) in this situation. So it comes down to this : I suggested the TL Audio EQ-2 as an replacement EQ for the ghost. It does not need to be the TL's persé and we stand very open for other gear. But it has to be fully parametric, dual channel and just sounds great.

Although this is the Low-End forum. There will not be that High-End budget, please keep that in mind.

Auditronics PEQ-82. Great sounding inductor EQ, you can find em on the super-cheap.

Thank you for the reply!

Only that particular EQ is nowhere to find. Is there a chance that somebody can tell me about some practical experience of the EQ-2? Like how does it sound, easy operation or difficult, does the unit actually add second harmonics with the tubes in the signal path? Or is it just plain awful.

Later,

Nah it's ok, but I think a bit muddy. yes it can be pushed (drive the valve hard) and then generates second harmonics. Some love it, I'm not a fan. It was sold a lot in our little country. With Focusrite often the only midrange choice in eq in the shops.
the Auditronics (solid state (no tubes), inductors, transformers, I think that will sound much better. *judging from experience with simular modules. It's an eq from an older desk, so there is no ready information, you'll have to dig a little deeper.

I got a pair of Filtek MK3d (again lol) for sale, racked and ready. solid state, resistor/capacitor network, transformers. clean, precise and solid low end. The polar opposite of the Tlaudio. selling because of rent. * I'm keeping a few for myself..

Anyway... there is much nice gear that didn't reach Holland ever.
look around on GS and listen to some stuff in the forum below. thumbsup
