new Behringer mx9000 or used Mackie 24/8 for HD24

I am going to buy a board to go analogue with a HD24 I am about to buy.

I cant afford a ghost, even used, but i will save for that upgrade in a few years.

So, i did a search on both of these boards and read a lot of bad and some good on both of them. I am weary of behringer, but not a hater, and a lot of the same problems folks had with the 9000 they had with the 24/8 (bad eq, power supply issues, and channel problems.

So, if you were in my shoes, pick one of the following.

A new mx9000, with meter bridge, and a warrenty - $950 after taxes
A used Mackie 24/8, no warranty or meter bridge - $900

thanks

Go for a Panasonic Ramsa Da7 digital mixer - it has great 24bit converters and the 16 mic pres are very good - it has surround, 100mm flying fader, automation, 8bus/6aux, EQ and dynamics on all channels (48 channels total), word clock, bla bla bla - I love it and I think still nothing in its price range comes even close to the da7 ($800-$1000 with meterbridge, and 3 ADAT cards)

You could send/return 24 channels ADAT to the HD24

Skip the Behringer anyway. It sounds pretty bad a Mackie sure sounds better), and will fall apart quickly

i had a mackie 24-8 for almost 10 years with not one single problem.
i made some good sounding recordings with it also.

for that price range i would tell you to look at a soundtracs topaz project 8.
they go for about $800 on ebay.

i think for the $$$ there are better choices out there with some of the older used boards.

I agree. Get a digital console that can accept your 24 I/O. The behringer will break down on you and the mackie will force you to use 24 DA's that aren't that great.
