| Gear Head | New band demo.
This past week. We did a project. 72 hrs. Track, Mix, Burn 5 songs. 4 songs are full band and 1 is piano and vocals. This was our first attempt at doing this slightly more legit than any try before. Up until this point we have done 3 recording sessions ourselves. This song is the best song out of the bunch. I feel as if the bass could have been done better, and the actual musicianship is lacking IMO. But its just bass - di - motu 8pre - logic pro 8. So there are obvious improvements that could be made. Anyways, i hope you enjoy this as much as we had creating it. Oh and it was all low budget gear. SoundClick artist: Mr Weems - page with MP3 music downloads |

drums sound decent. it sounds like you largely have the sounds there and need more practice mixing. the vocal sticks out a lot to me.

The drums sound really good actually. Pretty legit. The instruments are mixed well for the most part. I feel like the rhythm guitar is a little soft maybe? The voice is a little too out there though. If it was just brought back a few db's it would be a noticeable improvement on the overall mix.

I like the song. Can you list the signal chain. Mics, Pre amps, Etc... Instruments. I agree the vox is just a little loud. Sounds like you have good head room. Is the guitar a plug in amp model in logic? Thanks for posting Steve

Thanks for the replys. I agree we need more practice mixing. But we had fun and this was the first attempt at putting our new work to "recording" Signal flow. Guitars : Fender MIA Telecaster Rickenbacker 330 Ac30 1977 Princeton Amp Mesa Rectoverb Senn e609. Shure 57 Drums: Shure 57 snare top skin MXL 603's Overheads Beta 52 on kick Bass. - Jazz Bass - Pro co DI box All into a Motu 8 Pre I forgot what the mic was we used for vocals. it was borrowed. Along with a vocal diffuser. Mac Book Pro 2.4ghz 2g ram. Logic Pro 8. I'd like to get a hold of a outboard compressor and preamp. And a pair of adam a7's |

I love it when I hear great songs / quality recorded on modest to low end gear. I hear the fun you had in that recording. MAKE IT HAPPEN Steve |
