Hey Everyone, I have been dry running my pro tools rig in advance of a live recording gig next weekend. I basically set up the session with 16 channels, all set to one of the 8 analog/8 digital ins and let it record for a few hours. I never gave it much thought but would the system recording for real rather than just pre amp noise make any difference to this dry run. I am simply making sure my portable rig is solid. G |

i once asked the same question while on the phone with digi support. the guy told me recording is recording , wether or not it is getting transients or not is no different then recording nothing at all. just out of curiousity , how long have you let it go before stopping it . i have another live gig coming up as well , the last one i did , i stopped the recording in between songs and missed some good stuff.because i thought i needed to let the computer stop and rest or catch up. |

I am getting perfect results (as in tracks happily without stopping) for 2 hour runs. Done lots this year with the system (dozen or so location/live sessions) and it has yet to fail me but I am paranoid. G |
