i would ask - a pair of tbone rb500 - an ART VLA II - a sm57 - a pair of nice monitors and eventually a small but nice place to put my gear and instruments in (guitars, bass, amps drums) and record music! |

I'm just going to chime in for the fathead pair and the Pro VLA. Sure would look nice under the tree. Frank |

| I actually went a little nuts. Here's what I did: Stripped it and refinished with Vintage White NitroCellulose Replaced Machines Installed bone nut and recut the head to tele specs New decals Replaced PUPs with Handwound Bill Lawrence Keystones Redrilled bridge mounting holes and Stringthrough holes Installed vintage Ashtray bridge New CTS pots w/ vintage knobs New Electrosocket New 4-way switch 5 screw white pickguard All new wiring I guess about $450 or so but it's pretty damned nice. |

I have a fairly decent mic locker for the usual suspects: A pair of Fatheads, pair of Crown CM700s, SM57, EV635A, EV N-Dyn, some old, beat to hell RE-11s-15s, a modded Apex 460 (NOS 6072a, Cinimag Xfrmr, Peluso capsule, silver wire), Oktava 319 from the Soundroom and a few others. I figure I needed a few utility condensers, so I sent out a link to all my relatives for the MXL SP1. Right now I know I have one under the tree and expect at least a couple of more. For $39 it's a great stocking stuffer, blister pack and all.

| Xmas List
I'm getting me a Dangerous 2-bus LT for Christmas!!!! As for others on this thread... ADAM A7's - whoever it was that was thinking about these...do it!! They're amazing, it's what I use. I saw some ProCo cables on someone's list....on American Musical Supply they have a 3-pack of Whirlwind cables for $25 and the same cable for a pack of 10 for $69.99....totally worth it if you're in the budget area of ProCo, Whirlwind, CBI or Livewire, these are just as good as the proco's and it's the best deal out there. Now that my personal studio is completely upgraded to Mogami, I don't use them as much, but they were awesome when it was all that I had. Just my 2 cents...

| I can't speak for the guitars, but the basses have always gotten good reviews over on talkbass.com (where I also occasionally post with the same name). Like I said, I love my fretless SX precision. Out of the box, it was setup pretty well. I've tweaked it a little bit, and that thing has some bite! I'm thinking I might redo the wiring and also give the neck a little TLC (there are little bumps at most of the fret markers that cause some buzzing), and then it will just be about perfect. The stock pickups are very good for the money, and with a good setup most are perfectly giggable out of the box.

My BFF is getting me an SSL...just kidding ![]() I would shoot for the Audix D6. Foam is ok, but panels seem to do a better job. I would put Owens Corning 703 on the list. Otherwise I hope Santa is good to youthumbsup |

But yeah, for a kicker guitar, you can't beat it. Even some little improvements will get you a nicer experience though. Like some new tuners. Maybe some saddles. $35 bucks. But the things sound and play great right out of the box. I will say that I think just about any guitar will need a proper setup if you get it throught the mail. The SXs are great though. They have a really cool Tele with a humbucker as well. Also, I think Guitar Fetish has some nice cheap Tele style guitars as well. Check those out too. | |
