| Gear nut | Monitor stands for Yamaha NS-1000M
I will occasionally be running my Digi002 through my integrated amp and monitoring through my NS-1000M monitors at home, and for this I need to have stands that are 28" to 32" inches high. Another limitation I have is money ($250 for the stand pair), but I can't go with anything that can't support these monitors sufficiently. Are nearfield monitor stands enough to support my NS-1000M monitors, which weigh 69 lbs a piece, or do I need to go with something bigger? The monitors are 11.5 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 26 inches tall, so I need something with a wide top and bottom plate. Finally, something that comes with speaker spikes are of great help, and some kind of isolation pad would be of great help. They must be fillable with sand etc. I've looked at Stereocilia, Sound Anchors (cool but way too expensive), Raxxess, Blue Sky, Golden Sound, ASC and things look pretty hopeless (i.e. expensivo) other than with Stereocilia, but I have yet to hear back from them. I have not asked Blue Sky, or Golden Sound for custom stands, but I have a feeling that they would be way out of my price range, while Raxxess' would not be able to hold up well under 69 lbs. Does the top plate have to be larger or smaller than the speakers? Does this make a difference other than keeping them stable? Lovan's Ballet stands look hopeful, but they are at the upper end of my range, $259/pair without shipping. Anything cheaper that will work well? Thanks, Mitch |
