a different kind of mic pre/vocal chain..lol.

try this sometime for ultra low cost.
sm57 or a decent dynamic vocal mic>>>cassette deck mic pre input.
cassette deck line out to line in of el cheapo art tube mp.
line out of mp into sound card line input.

ive been experimenting a lot with this for giggles.
can get lots of gain. this way your not cranking the heck out of the mp.
after recording vocal trak , go to town conditioning the trak with eq etc.
you might be surprised. its all in how you go about things.
dont slam the cassette dek mic pre input too high.

total cost cassette dek for free (many people throwing em away.)
used dynamic , try an old shure unidyne if you can find one or EV for 40 buks.
mp is 30 buks. grand total 70 buks.

i'm comparing to traks ive done in high end studios in the past to 2 inch.

Im doing this already for about 2years with a SM7B and a Philips cassete deck, and it give that extra for dub's on raps what i never get with plugins.
Its a great little tip that some forget. My drums stereo for parelle compres in to my ssl bus com pass true a revox b77 before that. Sounds also frickin nice.
