Thread Starter | Overhead and acoustic guitar SDC's for 400
I was suprised, but a quick preliminary search did not reveal this and i personally dont like these threads but im doing one anyway. I am looking to buy a pair of SDC's with a 400 dollar budget. I want to use these as drum overheads and for acoustic guitar. Does anyone have any suggestions for mics to look (listen) into in the 400 dollar price range. Any suggestions for a $350 budget as well (just in case)

Kel HM1 seems to get favorable reviews... or a used pair of ATM450s, maybe. I'm going to pick up a couple of Kels shortly, probably a pair of HM1s and maybe an HM2d.. and maybe their new one, too if the others are as good as everyone says they are. "-) |

| The Kel HM-1 fits the bill, but you have to have a decent sounding space to use them in - they are a wide cardioid pattern. The only other contender in that range is the Studio Projects C4 set - not a bad choice either... -tINY |

If you could stretch it or find used, the Oktava MK-012 would be a very good one to have. In that price range though, you could buy a pair of CAD M179 with money to spare. They rock on both sources and have infinitely variable patterns on board. War |

i would suggest the AT4041s - great bang for buck mic for lots of applications. i used them for quite a while and liked them so much i bought a pair of the AT4051s, which are incredible for the money.
